Dead by Lightning

As a country, we're not known at all for lightning strikes injuring people, or doing much damage. But today, we have had a man and the horse he was
riding, struck down and killed by lightning. Both dying instantly. Up to six others were also injured and hospitalised. So uncanny and weird for that here,
it's almost unheard of in these parts. The man was aged in his early 60s.

That's almost common here in the states, not as common as other things. We just had a big system of thunderstorms move thru this evening. Quite a brilliant
light show, especially when it strikes along the river.

Rather common in this part of the USA. I hate it myself. The computer tech told me that a lightening strike could take out my firewall router. I knew it could
damage a computer. Just lucky I guess. Loud thunder usually comes with it. Like last night not only was there some lightening but lots of heavy rain and wind
and loud thunder.

NZ had it happen to then. No doubt there's others that I don't know about!

I was standing outside the building I live in, second storey, and adjacent the fire escape ramp (like a big childrens slide and all metal), when a bolt from
the blue struck the slide and just whacked me sideways where I stood. I think I only got the tailend of the strike but my world did go blazingly white for
about 2 seconds, so yeah got hit I guess. No burns or other marks, just an elevated state of being for a couple of hours. I told a few people and they just
laughed so shut up about...

How do you mean elevated - as in buzzing on a high? (excuse the pun) Where abouts were you? Ouch. Amazing that you just got a light touch.

Now that makes sense with the horse shoes. I did wonder what may have been attracting the lightning...

I got struck by lightning a couple of years back. Not a bad feeling (just caught the tailend of it I guess.) I was elevated for hours afterwards.

Apparently horses get struck often, so someone here said. Metal shoes apparently.
